As always, it promises to be a lively and eclectic night, but unusually, we have an emphasis
on drama, rather than the visual arts, as our primary focus this month. We have a range of
short dramatic pieces for you to enjoy: We are delighted to support the Bealtaine Festival,
an established Festival Celebrating Creativity As We Age. "Older - but no wiser..." is a
presentation by Howard Linnane (CINE CAFE) which will consist of a small number of
themed short films introduced interspersed with dramatic monologues from talented older-age
actors who are part of the Bealtaine festival. Well-known monologues and soliloquies taken
from stage and screen will be delivered by members of the drama group Ranelagh Players
(est 2003) including: Howard Linnane (from 'The American President') Gertrude Kane (from
'Lady of Letters') and Joe Shortall (performing a piece by Brendan Behan)
In addition,we will have a performance based on Strumpet City, as part of Dublin City
Council's One City One Book in the centenary of the lockout that the book was inspired by.
Against the backdrop of social agitation, Plunkett's Strumpet City is about the attitudes of
various strata of society-from Dublin Castle and people of property down to the destitute poor
and the outcasts. We are delighted to have actors Stephen Holland and Elizabeth McCollum
to perform an excerpt: 'Rashers Tierney' and 'Mrs Hennessy' discuss the virtues of hunger and
where the rich pickings are to be found in Dublin during the 1913 lockouts. Special Notice:
The Kilmainham Arts Club is taking a break for the Summer months of June, July
and August. Resuming again September 2nd 2013

Double-bill of two dynamic bands, no cover charge, great sounds and a great
atmosphere. THE GRACE WILDE have reformed with a full electric outfit. With a
big raunchy rootsy rocking sound. Heart wrenching lyrics, strong female vocals,
masterful guitars intertwining with dynamic bass, and orchestral drums, Grace
Wilde specialise in writing slow yet hugely dynamic songs. Travelling the country
with these prize winning songs. Consisting of Singer/Guitarist Audrey Fay, Lead
Guitarist Enda Duff, Bassist Avril Sweeney, and Drummer Danni Nolan, Grace
Wilde are a four piece soulful blues rock band who are sure to sing straight to
your soul, strum your heart-strings, and leave you feeling weak at the knees.
THE LANEWAYS, Andrea, Colm, Gary and Sam are a Dublin based rock band
who's musical influences range from, well? Whatever we happen to be listening at
any given point in time. The band is a melting pot of ideas and inputs. Reformed
from the ashes our former selves in late 2012 we have only looked one way.
